How do you know if you need car radiator repairs? 

There are a few different things to look out for if you think your radiator needs some love. These include:

• Steam coming from your engine: this might be caused by a severely damaged radiator! If you spot steam, stop driving immediately to avoid engine failure. Call your roadside assistance company or your trusted auto radiator repair shop for help.
• Visible leaks underneath your car: if your radiator is leaking, you might spot a puddle of fluid underneath your car. This could be coolant and might be a green or red colour. Coolant is extremely important as it regulates your engine's temperature and also protects it against corrosion. A radiator leak will compromise coolant performance. Top tip - regularly check on your coolant levels (it's best to do this at the same time you check your oil and water). Depending on the climate you live in, the ratio of water to coolant can vary based on the seasons.
• Your engine is overheating: you might notice a change in engine temperature via your vehicle dashboard. If your engine is reaching dangerous temperature levels, it can cause significant damage. If you spot signs of overheating, make sure you pull over immediately.

​What is a radiator flush? And why do I need one?

A radiator flush is one of the many regular maintenance procedures we recommend to keep your vehicle running efficiently and safely. The process involves a deep clean of a car's cooling system. We remove old coolant, sludge and rust by carrying out a system flush of the radiator with a special cleaning solution.
We recommend a radiator flush every 2-5 years, depending on how much you drive. Check your vehicle's manual to see the manufacturers recommendations. Another way to check if you're due a radiator flush is to check the colour of your coolant. If it's dirty (no longer a bright green or red), then the coolant is past its best.
By keeping up with your radiator flush maintenance, you can:

• Protect the radiator components, as well as things like the water pump
• Remove the bits that hinder the efficiency of your cooling system, like sludge, rust and scale.
